Mathematics of Random Systems: Summer School 2023

The 2023 Summer School in Mathematics of Random Systems is jointly organised by the EPSRC CDT in Mathematics of Random Systems and the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), Kyoto University. The Summer School will be held in Kyoto as a RIMS Review Seminar, and feature three main courses, which will aim to cover both theoretical and applied aspects of topics in the mathematics of random systems.

As well as enabling students to learn new and developing material in stochastic processes and applications, it is also intended to facilitate interaction between graduate students from the UK in this area and those from Japan with similar research interests.

In addition to the lecture courses, there will some additional invited talks by guest lecturers and presentations by selected PhD students.

The summer school is part of the RIMS Research Project 2023 on Stochastic Processes and Related Fields which includes a workshop on Stochastic Processes and Related Fields from 4-8 September 2023. More details can be found here:

Summer School Logistics

The workshop will be held in room 420 of RIMS. More details on how to get here can found found here:

There are limited hotels close to Kyoto University, but there are plenty in the more central areas of the city, from which it is easy to commute by bus. (See here for a city bus map.) In particular, if you book a hotel within (or close to) the region contained within the streets Marutamachi - Kawaramachi - Shijo - Karasuma (in the north, east, south, west, respectively), there are good links from this area to the University.
